TACLOBAN CITY – A bus company operating in Leyte is currently implementing a six-week free ride between this town and Ormoc City and Biliran province as part of the government’s service procurement program.
Visayas Liner began the free ride on the Tacloban-Ormoc and Tacloban-Naval (Biliran) routes on May 14 as part of its drive to help commuters in the wake of the health crisis, the company said in its statement on Thursday. . The program will benefit bus passengers until June 30, 2021.
Passengers from here to Ormoc will save P225 per trip while those to and from Naval City will save P262 per trip.
“We are joining the Land Transportation and Franchise Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) in the government’s commitment to help the community amid the pandemic. As of this week, health workers, frontline workers and authorized persons outside the residence can borrow Liner Visayas on our routes free of charge, ”the company added in its statement.
The service contract program allows drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) to earn a stable income – P11 per kilometer for traditional and modern jeepneys and P23.10 for passenger buses, in addition to incentives or demerits based on service quality, commuter feedback and driver performance.
The people included in the program must meet specific performance indicators to improve the quality of the transport service and to benefit from the subsidy.
