the ferries at Island Beach and Great Captain’s Island will begin on June 11, 2022 and run until September 11, 2022.

Byram Park pool area will open on Friday 27th May 2022.

The Departments of Health and Parks and Recreation will continue to adhere to the existing policy of no recreational swimming at local tidal beaches after certain rain events for all beaches. This policy does not include the beaches on the island as they do not appear to be affected by any factor such as rainfall. Beach closures on the island will be announced by the Department of Health as necessary and announced for other locations after triggering rain events.

As part of the implementation of the departmental public health protection policy, the Environmental Services Division will collect and analyze beach water samples weekly throughout the season.

After rainfall events of half an inch (0.5″) or more, Byram Beach will automatically close for a beach day.

If multiple storms occur, the beach will close for a full day after the rain stops. Openings, closings and other announcements related to beach activity will be posted by the Department through the Beach Hot Line Environmental Services Division (203-622-7855) and the City of Greenwich website (www.greenwichct.gov).

All swimming closures will be posted at each beach location by the Department of Parks and Recreation.
