ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – July 9, 2022): Like every year on the eve of the Eid-ul-Adha holiday, Eid transport fares have doubled and public transport has also disappeared from the terminals bus stop in Abbottabad, stranded passengers were wandering around looking for transportation.

Carriers charged the fares on their own accord and people had no choice but to reach their destinations to pay the increased fares. On the eve of Eid-ul-Adha 2022, a relatively different situation was also observed in bus stations where on the one hand transport was short and on the other commuters were more than half compared to years previous ones due to soaring public transport fares.

On condition of anonymity, a few commuters told APP that due to high fares we could not travel to our home areas for Eid celebrations and decided to stay in Abbottabad.

Another local commuter, Adil Abbasi, said local carriers were also charging an extra fare as “Eidi” as neither the regional transport authority nor the traffic police took action to stop the rise in traffic. prices. He further said that from Abbottabad local carriers charge Rs 100 and 150 for Manshera and similarly on other routes carriers have also raised the fares.

Profiteers have also jumped in to get their share of the situation, old buses and other vehicles that are not suitable for long journeys are used.
