Restart of work on the Bursa high-speed train line

After a long break, work has started on the Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli high-standard railway line. Bursa MP Mustafa Esgin said the first excavation for the construction of tunnels in the Osmaneli region has been carried out.

There are new developments on the Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli high-standard railway line, the foundation of which was laid 9 years ago but could not be completed until today due to changes in itinerary and project.

The part of the project from Bursa to Osmaneli is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The line, which will then be extended to Bandırma, will be used for freight transport with port connections as well as for passengers. The foundation of the Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli high-standard railway line was laid in 2012 at the Balat site on the Bursa Mudanya route with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, Minister of Labor and Social Security Faruk Çelik and Minister of Transport. , Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım. However, in the past 9 years, the process could not be completed due to the change of route due to seismic risk, problems encountered during expropriation and reconstruction of projects.

Finally, in August last year, the tender for the construction of the 201-kilometer high-quality Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli railway line and the supply of electromechanical systems was launched by the Ministry of Transport , Infrastructure Investments Branch. The tender, the offer of 9 billion 449 million lira, Kalyon İnşaat kazanwas. Under the tender, the 95 kilometer Bursa-Bandırma line, the 56 kilometer Bursa-Yenişehir line and the 50 kilometer Yenişehir-Osmaneli line were held. In order to start work on the 50-kilometer Yenişehir-Osmaneli line, Kalyon İnşaat launched the construction site in an area of around 45,000 square meters around Yenişehir Ebeköy. According to the project, Bursa will be connected to the high-speed train line via Yenişehir and Osmaneli, thus ensuring uninterrupted transport between Bursa – Bilecik – Ankara – Istanbul. This way, the distance between Bursa and Ankara will be reduced to 2 hours and 10 minutes. According to information received from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, 30 million passengers and 59 million tons/year of cargo are expected to be transported annually on the Bursa – Osmaneli stage of the project.

First excavation shot in the constructions of the Osmaneli tunnel

Responding to questions from İhlas News Agency reporter during the meeting in Bursa, the cultural capital of the Turkish world, and Novisad, Serbia, the European capital of culture, Dr Mustafa Esgin, deputy of the AK party at Bursa, first dug for the construction of tunnels in the Osmaneli region. The first digging is very important at the start of the works. A 13 kilometer tunnel will be built on this line. The process accelerated when the foreign loan was approved by our president. This project is the common agenda of political will. We follow each development with all our deputies, our provincial president and the mayor of the metropolitan municipality. No funding problem. The project will progress very quickly now. There are no obstacles in front of the high-speed train,” he said.

Stating that they are working on a line that can carry goods as well as passengers with trains at a speed of 200 km/h under the project, Mustafa Esgin said that the section between Osmaneli and Geçit will be completed first.

Esgin said: “This is an extremely important investment that will connect Bursa to Turkey’s rail networks. Bursa is a province with an export potential of 15 billion dollars. Today, we bring this potential to global markets by road. We will reach global markets through rail and sea systems. The line will also be extended to Bandırma Port. There will also be a line in Gemlik. Tender done. Credit approval completed. The project, which will be built with a loan loan of 9.5 billion lira, is also the largest investment that Bursa has received in a single element in the history of the Republic. We are trying to finish it as soon as possible. After completing the Geçit high-speed train station, we will expand the city’s railway system to the city hospital,” he said.
