RPT invites the Rochester community to participate in Try Transit Week

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Rochester Public Transit (RPT) is hosting Try Transit Week October 17-21.

According to RPT, it will be a week of activities and promotions to encourage people to try transit for the first time, invite former riders to return to RPT and recognize loyal customers for their support.

During the week, RPT will celebrate and reward customers who travel by public transit in several ways.

On every transit ride, customers can win an entry into a draw to win prizes including: a one-year bus pass ($480 value); tickets to Kat Perkins at the Mayo Civic Center; gift certificates for local meals; and RPT loot. To enter, passengers can record the trip using the free Arrive Rochester app or take a selfie on the bus and post to social media with the hashtag #RPT_Ride.

Riders can also fill out a passport by trying four different types of trips over the week, then redeem the completed passport for an RPT-branded 5-litre dry bag.

Thursday is a public holiday. All courses, all day Thursday will be free.

Passengers should also be on the lookout for city officials who will ride the bus and park at stops to reward passengers with treats.
