Those in the Elizabeth City area can learn more about working for the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division this week at the first of four job fairs being held in eastern North Carolina.
The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the NC Works Career Center at 111 Jordan Plaza in Elizabeth City.
The Ferry Division has partnered with NC Works to host the job fairs. NC work is the state’s workforce system where job seekers can search for work, build resumes, and find education and training, and employers can find candidates, post jobs, and search for information in the labor market.
The next fair will be February 2 at the NC Works Career Center, 3813 Arendell St., Morehead City. Followed Feb. 9 at NC Works Career Center, 3101 Bismark St., Greenville, and Feb. 16 at Brunswick County Career Center, 5300-7 Main St., Shallotte. All are from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The division said it will adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols, such as requiring social distancing and face coverings, during the job fair.
Representatives from the Ferry Division should be on hand to explain the various positions available and opportunities for advancement. The Ferry Division said it offers competitive salaries, full-time, year-round permanent employment, health insurance, retirement benefits, paid vacations, holidays and sick days.
People attending the job fair must bring their curriculum vitae and supporting documents. Applications should be accepted for all positions at all levels of experience, from entry-level parking attendants to experienced boat captains. Temporary summer jobs and full-time permanent positions are available.
To view available jobs within the Ferry Division, visit state jobs site and search for “Ferry”. Officials said new ferry jobs are regularly added to the site.
