New electric car research suggests charging shouldn’t be a concern

“…research based on the charging behavior and daily driving habits of electric vehicle owners suggests that these concerns need not be the primary deciding factor before deciding whether to buy a gasoline or electric car.

“70% of all electric vehicle charging cycles involve the consumption of 10 kWh or less of energy per plug-in session. Additionally, a significant portion of charging sessions consume less than 5 kWh of electrical energy.”

Researchers make batteries from hemp

While many researchers around the world have been looking for ways to use graphene to better EV batteries, it’s still an expensive material that can’t be scaled up for mass production.

Union Pacific will build hybrid locomotives in North Little Rock

New discovery in making rare-earth-free magnets can hardly replace rare-earth magnets, say Chinese experts

“A team from Cambridge University and Austrian colleagues have found a new way to make tetrataenite, a possible replacement for rare-earth magnets.

“…possible to produce tetrataenite, an iron-nickel alloy, on a large scale by adding the common element phosphorus.
