Jakarta (ANTARA) – Jakarta-Bandung PT High Speed ​​Railway Project Operator Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) assured that the company prioritizes the safety and quality of workers as a result of ‘an accident on his construction site.

“PT KCIC will not tolerate any construction error beyond tolerable values,” company chairman Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said Thursday in Jakarta.

The accident happened after an alignment error was detected on a completed pier by the company’s quality control team and the construction supervision consultant, he said.

After the discovery, management asked the construction contractor to demolish the faulty jetty and rebuild it, he said. The company has also formulated engineering standard operating procedures for the demolition and rework process, he added.

However, operational errors during the demolition process caused the jetty to collapse prematurely on an excavator used for demolition, the chief chairman said while clarifying that no casualties were reported in the accident. .

A management investigation found that operators leading the demolition process had violated standard procedures, he said.

Management berated the responsible staff and asked them to ensure that such accidents do not happen again in the future, Riyadi informed.

“We promptly summoned the project contractor and berated the personnel responsible for the accident. We reminded them to follow standard procedure to avoid another accident in the future,” said the CEO.

The construction team is currently continuing the investigation and problem analysis on the construction process, he said, adding that the investigation report will be submitted to the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). Once finished.

“We are currently focused on investigating and resolving the problems resulting from the accident. We have also asked the parties involved in the construction project to be attentive to working safely and to observe the working procedures applied. “said Riyadi.

The managing chairman informed that the high-speed railroad engineering function and designs, including tunnels and bridge structures, have been reviewed and approved by the ministry, and the infrastructure is expected to last around 100 years.
